Tidst vs Timely

Both are built on the same idea: you should not have to start a timer to know where your day went. They get the record from different places.

Timely's Memory app records your computer in the background, and its AI drafts the timesheet for you to approve. Tidst never records your computer. It brings back the tasks you finished and the meetings you had, and asks how long they took.

I make Tidst

So this is not an independent review. Timely is a mature product built for teams, and it does a lot that Tidst does not attempt. Timely's details were checked against their own pages on 1 October 2026; check them again before deciding, because plans change.

What each one remembers

Say you spend 45 minutes writing a proposal.

Timely sees 45 minutes in a document, a browser and your email, and its AI suggests an entry from that activity, often with the project already filled in. You approve it or adjust it.

Tidst sees a task called Write proposal for Nordhavn Brewing, ticked off in Todoist or Asana. It lands in The Queue with the client attached, and you confirm how long it took.

Timely knows more about the minutes. Tidst starts closer to what a client sees on an invoice line.

Timely's column was checked against timely.com on 1 October 2026. Prices are left out on purpose: they change, and a stale figure on a competitor's behalf is worse than none. See their pricing page for current numbers and plan limits.

Who they are built for

Timely describes itself as an AI time tracker for consultancies, agencies and SaaS teams, and its plans are sized by team: Starter up to five people, Premium up to fifty, then unlimited. Team management, budgets and accounting integrations grow with the plan.

Tidst is for one freelancer and has no team features at all. Rates, fixed prices, retainers, costs and shared client reports are free, because they are what a freelancer needs before the hours turn into an invoice.

What neither can see

Timely's Memory app runs on Mac and Windows, so work away from the computer is outside its recording: the phone call in the car, the sketch on paper. You add those by hand or with the timer.

Tidst only sees work that left a trace in a task tool or a calendar. The unplanned call and the fix that never became a task still need a manual entry, or a typed line in The Queue.

Choosing

Timely is the better fit if you

  • want a full record of your computer activity to draft from
  • want AI to suggest entries and projects for you
  • work in a team, or bill as an agency
  • need native desktop and mobile apps
  • want budgets and accounting integrations in the same tool

Tidst may fit better if you

  • already keep client work in Asana, ClickUp, Google Tasks, monday.com, Notion, Todoist or Trello
  • would rather review finished tasks than computer activity
  • do not want your apps and browser activity recorded
  • work alone
  • want rates, agreements and costs without paying for a plan

Frequently asked questions

Is Tidst an alternative to Timely?
For a freelancer working alone, possibly. Both let you skip the start-a-timer habit. Timely does it by recording your computer and having AI draft the timesheet. Tidst does it by bringing back the tasks and meetings you already finished. If you work in a team, or want your computer activity as evidence, Timely is the stronger choice.
Does Timely monitor me?
Timely says its Memory recording is private to you, with no keystroke logging and no screenshots, and that only entries you approve are shared. It does record which apps, websites and documents you use, which Tidst does not do at all.
Does Tidst use AI?
Not a language model. Tidst matches finished tasks and meetings to clients from their names and your own history, and suggests durations from calendar times, duration labels and past entries. Everything waits for you to confirm before it is logged.
Which works better with my task manager?
Tidst reads finished tasks from Asana, ClickUp, Google Tasks, monday.com, Notion, Todoist and Trello on its free plan. Timely lists Asana, Todoist and Trello among its integrations, adds monday.com and ClickUp on Premium, covers Notion only through what Memory records, and does not list Google Tasks.
Is either of them free?
Tidst is free to use. Timely has a 14-day trial and no free plan after it.
Can I use them on my phone?
Both. Timely has native iOS and Android apps. Tidst installs to your home screen as a web app and needs a connection.

Let the computer remember, or let the work.

Choose Timely if you want your day reconstructed from what your computer did, with AI doing the first draft and a team on the same plan.

Choose Tidst if you work alone and your tasks and calendar already say most of what you did.
