Logging an item now moves a number

Clearing the queue used to be a subtraction. An item faded, the list got shorter, and nothing on the screen said what confirming it had actually done.

The month’s total is back in the Queue’s header, and it is there for one reason: it is what a logged item moves toward. The row travels into the corner, the list closes the gap behind it rather than snapping shut, and the figure counts up to take the work in. When the last item goes, the confirmation rises in instead of appearing.

Only that one figure came back. Today’s hours, the goal and the streak badge stayed on the dashboard, where they belong — a number that answers your last action is a different thing from five you have to read before you can start.

Making it move meant making it true. The same total on the dashboard had been adding up the per-entry amounts, which is zero for every client on a fixed fee or a retainer — so the figure that led the page quietly left them out, while the client list directly beneath it, priced properly, came to more. Both now price each client under its own agreement, and both say so when a client has been left out rather than folding a guess into the number.
