You can reconstruct a workweek.
Calendar.
Completed tasks.
Sent mail.
Browser history.
Chat.
A few notes.
Eventually, the shape of the week comes back.
That does not make it a good system.
Reconstruction should be the backup
Sometimes an entry goes missing.
Fine.
Use the evidence.
The problem is when this happens every week by design.
If your normal Friday routine requires remembering five days of fragmented work, the system has outsourced too much to memory.
The cost is not only time
Reconstruction is slow.
It is also uncertain.
You spend energy deciding whether a task took 20 or 40 minutes.
You wonder whether a call happened before or after lunch.
You end up rounding because the context is gone.
That makes the record weaker.
The fix can be very small
You do not need a new app.
Try reviewing at the end of each day.
Or every two days.
Use your task manager and calendar as prompts.
Add missing work while it still feels obvious.
The objective is simply to shorten the distance between work and record.
Better systems reduce archaeology
A good system lets you review.
A bad one makes you investigate.
That is the difference.
Friday should be for finishing the week, not excavating it.
